Life Coaching with Kathleen Kelley, EdD

I am a seasoned expert in the intricate workings of the brain, neuroanatomy, and the science of stress. My 30 years as a Physical Therapy Professor along with my Master’s Degree in Neurology have given me a deep understanding of the nervous system. My doctorate in education allows me to both teach and empower individuals to take control of their mental and emotional states, even in the face of stress, anxiety, or overwhelm.
Through evidence-based techniques grounded in neuroscience, I teach clients how to regulate their nervous systems, rewire habitual stress responses, and cultivate resilience. Using brain-based strategies, I help people tap into their inner resources for greater emotional balance, focus, and clarity. My approach integrates advanced neuroscience with practical tools for self-regulation, guiding individuals to make sustainable, lasting changes in their lives.
I tried counseling, yoga, yoga teacher training, meditation, meditation teacher training, and divorce. No matter what I did, my mind came with me. Nothing I did on the outside changed my internal thoughts of discontent.
Then I found coaching.
As a Life Coach, I combine the latest research on neuroplasticity, stress management, and emotional regulation and offer a tailored experience for each client to help them thrive both personally and professionally. With my expertise in brain science, I provide a powerful foundation for transformation, helping individuals unlock their full potential.
Let’s do this together!

What is Life Coaching?
A life coach is a mentor, best friend, a wealth of advice and knowledge – NOT.
When you hear “Life Coach” what do you think? What comes to mind? What came to mind for me was, “Who in their right mind would want to unscramble my life?” But that’s the key, the coach doesn’t unscramble anything, you do.
Life coaching, within the framework that I learned, reveals your mind to you. My job as a coach is to hold space for you so you can “see” how your own mind works. Life coaching is not therapy or advice. Life coaching is not a session with your best friend or truth serum. Life coaching allows you to examine your own thoughts and feelings and see how these thoughts are BOTH optional AND driving your results. Life coaching provides you with a platform to explore your own mind, in a safe space. As a life coach, I have been trained to
- Hold space and not judge
- Reveal your mind to you but not give advice
- Provide you with tools.
These tools allow you to continue doing your own work. Coaching, when done well, is unbiased.
Working with coaches has taught me to manage my mind and take charge of my results. I no longer blame things outside of myself for my feelings. Well, sometimes I do, then I get a coaching session myself! And that’s the rub, everyone needs a life coach, even your coach. Because our minds are never quiet or agreeable or calm or organized. Our minds are messy and contrary, disquiet and obtuse, undisciplined and unclear. I won’t claim that life coaching is a cure for the disorganized mind, but, life coaching will help you put things in perspective in a way that advice or therapy never did for me.

Coaching for Decision Fatigue
One reason you may hire a coach is that you are struck in decision fatigue. You can’t decide to stay at your job or leave; buy a new car or get yours fixed; take that continuing education or use the money for a vacation.
Decision Fatigue is Real and Coaching helps!
Coaching for Stress
Stressed out? Anxious? Can’t sleep? Going to work gives you heart burn? What ever the issue might be, coaching will help reveal the thoughts BEHIND the anxiety. And coaching with me will help you choose better thoughts.
Anxiety lives in your body and mind! Coaching helps with both.

Can’t Sleep?
I won’t claim to cure sleep disorders or sleep dysfunction. BUT, when you have trouble sleeping and your mind is racing, ONE thing I have found that is very helpful is to do some kind of breathwork or meditation or hypnosis. Instead of ruminating and worrying about NOT being asleep, give your mind a simple, relaxing task. Yoga Nidra is one such task. Click the link below for a free Yoga Nidra. Try it the next time you have trouble falling asleep.
